How to use CHKDSK

What is CHKDSK?

CHKDSK is a utility in XP that scans your hard drive for errors and attempts to repair them.

How do I use it?

1. Open My Computer
   
2. Right-click the hard drive you wish to scan and click Properties
   
3. Go to the Tools tab
   
4. Click on Check Now under Error-checking
   
5. Check the two boxes and click Start
6. You should see a dialog box like this:
   
7. Click Yes and restart your computer
